The big, wealthy oil tycoon Blake Carrington and his former secretary, Krystle Grant Jennings are getting married. Krystle's ex-boyfriend, Matthew Blaisdel, who's been working as a geologist on one of Blake's oil rigs in the Mideast for a year and a half

Alexis testifies against Blake, and tells about an incident several years ago, when Blake discovered her in bed with her lover, Roger Grimes. Her testimony proves that Blake is a violent man, and things doesn't look too good. Fallon and Blake welcome Alexis with hate and rudeness, but Steven is friendly to her. Claudia wakes up in the hospital and discovers that Matthew has run off with Lindsay.

Krystle finds Blake in the mountains and gets him to the hospital. Nick Toscanni disappears. Cecil is also brought to the hospital, and he's very weak. A police investigation is started to find the baby. The suspects are: Farouk Ahmed, Nick Toscanni, nurse Susan, and an old cemetery worker called Alfred Grimes. Alexis wants to marry Cecil at the hospital when he's better. Blake recovers and to help with finding the baby he goes on TV with the whole family, and says he's give a reward to the one who can find little Blake. Alexis also stand forward and tells about their son, Adam, who was kidnapped when he was a baby. In Montana, Michael Torrance suddenly is told by his dying grandmother, that he really is Adam Alexander Carrington.

Krystle and Alexis, trapped in a burning cabin far off in the woods, find the door has been locked--from the outside. Mark, who has come to see Krystle in this remote setting, dramatically rescues the two women, who are rushed to the hospital. Blake meets with Steven to discuss the upbringing of little Danny; Blake remains convinced that a homosexual cannot provide a proper role model. A pregnant Kirby wrestles with the decision to tell Jeff he is not the father of her baby, while Fallon learns Adam is responsible for the mysterious illness that almost cost Jeff's life. Blake, suspecting that Mark's timely arrival at the burning cabin is more than coincidence, provides evidence to the police and Mark is arrested.

Following a serious traffic accident, Fallon mysteriously vanishes. Dex and Steven bail Alexis out of jail. Sammy Jo attempts to seduce Adam. Alexis flatters Adam by suggesting he work with her defense attorney, Warren Ballard. Dominique's husband Brady arrives at La Mirage and finds his wife suddenly interested in staying in Denver. Steven accuses his mother of killing Mark Jennings and ruining Blake's business. Despite her pleas, Steven tells his father everything. Steven orders Sammy Jo from the mansion. She counters by promising she'll sue for custody of Danny. After duping Adam into letting Danny ride along with her to the airport, Sammy Jo dashes off, kidnapping her son.

Those surviving the carnage of the bloody wedding massacre are separated and held at the palace in Moldavia to await an uncertain fate. The revolutionaries, Yuri and Warnick, have seized power and announce that King Galen is dead. Krystle, however, imprisoned in a dank dungeon along with Alexis, has seen him alive. The women are told they will not be released without meeting the terrorists' demands. In New York City, Sammy Jo reveals her plan: Rita is to impersonate Krystle in order to have her aunt removed as executrix of her father's will. While reading the newspaper, Fallon, suffering from amnesia, spots a picture of Miles Colby and is unsure why she is drawn to the name.

Moments from death under Blake's powerful grip, Alexis' life is spared as Krystle is able to restrain Blake's lethal temper, but not before he vows to regain the Carrington mansion. As searing flames ravage La Mirage, Amanda is rescued from the suffocating smoke by Michael Culhane, a nemesis from the Carrington's past. Phil Thorpe accuses Blake of being responsible for the death of his wife, a victim of the fire. A news crew is quick to tape the bereaved man's inflammatory remarks. The La Mirage blaze claims the life of Claudia. Ben receives a mysterious call from a female acquaintance. Unwilling to share in her mother's ""triumph"", Amanda flees to live with Blake. Upon seeing news clips of the La Mirage fire, Alexis begins to form an unscrupulous scheme, and Blake is the unwitting prey. Her plot unfolds as the Denver Mirror acquires a new publisher and a new headline for the morning edition--BLAKE CARRINGTON ACCUSED OF ARSON-MURDER!

Still held captive by the deranged Matthew Blaisdel, Blake and his family wait helplessly as Blaisdel's obsession for Krystle grows dangerously stronger. Witnessing Alexis' car plunge into the river, a handsome and mysterious stranger rescues her from the rushing current. Unaware of the tragedies that face their family, Adam and Dana are on their private jet, en route to their honeymoon paradise. Alone in her bedroom, Blaisdel takes Krystle and reminds her of their past love .for each other, promising things will be that way once again. Fallon's car is found abandoned in the desert. Receiving word of his wife's disappearance, Jeff rushes to the scene. Searching several miles from the car, Jeff finds her unconscious by the side of the road. Recovering from Sean's attempted murder on her life and his subsequent death, Alexis and Dex flee to Los Angeles. There, they regain the passion they once had. Jeff tries to keep Sammy Jo from entering his room after he and Fallon have just made love. Hearing a noise, however, she pushes past him and enters. To Jeff's relief, Fallon has put on her clothes and slipped out, undetected. Following Krystle's bizarre disappearance, Blake searches frantically for her. Finding smashed pictures of a smiling Krystle, he calls her doctor, fearing Krystle's mental illness may be developing. Adam withdraws into a drunken stupor, alienating his family and Dana. Intent on using Dana to help him regain his son, he apologizes for his behavior. But when Dana packs her things and leaves him, he suddenly realizes how much he truly loves her.
