The Edgar Wallace Mysteries was a British second-feature film series, produced at Merton Park Studios for Anglo-Amalgamated. There were 46 films in the series, made between 1960 and 1965.
The films were loose adaptations of Edgar Wallace's books and stories. Very few used his original titles, and there was no attempt to set them in the period in which Wallace wrote, probably to obviate the need for elaborate costumes and sets. A 1962 article in Scene magazine quotes £22,000 as the budget for an episode then in production.

Season 1
A government official arranges prison breaks as a sideline, but the police steps in and his gang is caught.
Season 2
A film producer (Guy Doleman) devises a deadly plan to finance a project.
Season 3
An international criminal arrives in London, and a detective is anxious to pin something on him for some unprovable murders of former lovers. The villain starts to suspect servants and henchmen of being a police spy known as 'Number Six'.
Season 4
Recently released from prison, Arthur Payne meets a benevolent stranger on a train who says he may be able to help him. A few days later, a second stranger arrives at Payne's houseboat, and Payne reluctantly agrees to carry out a no-risk jewel theft for a fee. When the staged burglary turns to murder, Payne realises he's been set up and he goes on the run. All the evidence points towards Payne being the murderer, but one irrefutable fact troubles Inspector Jackson.

Shady dealings and a duplicitious accountant put studio head Wayne Douglas and his new Oriental actress Lin in peril.
Season 6
Robert Hilary is a public figure, a businessman and a politician. Happily married, Hilary still lets his desire for his new secretary get the better of him. Starring Michael Gough, Mark Eden, Toby Robins and Allan Cuthbertson. Directed by Gerry O'Hara.
