This spooky anthology series for kids recounts ghost stories told by the young members of the Midnight Society as they gather around a campfire. Each episode opens with members of the Midnight Society at their secret spot in the woods, where they prepare their fire and the night's storyteller announces the title of the his or her offering. However, the cameras soon leave the storyteller and switch to the tale being told.

Season 1
Two brothers, while lost in the woods, come across a mysterious cab driver and a very unusual man named Dr. Vink who won't let any of his victims go unless they solve a riddle.
Season 2
Jill is a thirteen year old that still loves things her peers have grown out of, such as unicorns and fairy tales. One night she wishes that she could be in a fairy tale world forever. After her wish is granted, she finds that living in a fairy tale isn't as happy as she'd once imagined.
Season 3
When a teenager moves to Sleepy Hollow, he learns that some of the folks believe in the old legend of the headless horseman. He soon learns that it's not just a legend.
Season 4
A boy and his friend are constantly getting each other in trouble. One friend decides to plant a virus in the new virtual reality system this his friend is going to play. But things don't go as planned when the virus tries to take over the player's body and escape to the real world.
Season 5
Zeke is good at chemistry, but not at girls. When he befriends one, she teaches him how to swim at the school pool. However, the pool is haunted by the ghost of a body that was previously buried underneath the school.
Season 6
When Peter gets fed up with his tag-along sister Monica, he speeds up on ahead of her and his friend during their bike ride. They become seperated and Peter finds himself trapped in a place where he's forced to play a mysterious game, and his friend and sister are trapped in the woods until the game is finished. If Peter wins this game, he'll be free to leave. But if he loses, he'll be trapped there forever.
Season 7
Gary, the President of the Midnight Society from the original episodes is back and needs the help of his brother Tucker and his friends to help track down the members of the FIRST Midnight Society from way back in 1937 and help solve an ancient mystery and prevent an evil force from being unleashed on the world. Part one focuses on Tucker and Gary's search for 'The General' and his clue to the puzzle.

This is getting a lot of love and I really don't know why. Most of it has to be nostalgia. Or maybe it could be a cultural thing, like maybe it's the people on the coasts that really liked this show. Or maybe it could just be like a city thing, I've been living in the city for about 15 years now and people praise it.
Anyway, when I was a a kid, it came out when I was about 10, and it was kind of summarized as a scary show for kids that isn't really scary.
It's like the kids that showed up to school with a Goosebumps novel, and were so brutally mocked that learned never to do it again, and came back with Stephen King like everyone else.
Are You Afraid of the Dark? kind of had that feel. The kinds that went to Kindercare and weren't latch-key watched it and were terrified by it. Everyone else just thought it was lame and watched Tales From the Crypt instead.
Occasionally it was watched, mostly it was sampled and then ignored. But, yeah, when it first came out I remember giving it an actual chance.

There were a lot of great kids show that came on in the 90s and a lot of them were on Nickelodeon. In my opinion Are You Afraid of the Dark was one of the all-time greatest shows ever for kids because it had great story telling, great prodution value that still hilds up today. The stories that were on Are You Afraid of the Dark were extreamly creepy even for a kids show, also a lot of great actors got their start on this show. So if you love a great spooky and creepy horror anthology show for kids then I recommend Are You Afraid of the Dark.
