Soichi Shindo has been appointed as the new anchor of the night news program "Newsgate" on the commercial TV station JBN. "Newsgate" is a flagship program with a 40-year history, but in recent years its viewer ratings have been sluggish. In an effort to turn things around, JBN's Chairman Sadao Kunisada lured him away from the public broadcasting station.
